A French novelist, Jean Raspail, wrote a brilliant but depressing novel about a fictional last stand of Western Civilization in Southern France.

Among the final 7 men poised with their rifles to fend off the hordes of starving non-white immigrants from Asia and Africa in this tiny "camp of the saints" stood a man from India with a black skin.

A marvelous complexity of this novel, and of life itself, is that there will be some who struggle along side us and become a part of us, but look nothing like us.

I would urge my comrades in the movement to look upon these enlistments not as a threat or a distraction, but recognize them as a validation of our civilization and our cause. We are good enough to have converts!

Indeed, every white nationalist I know would rather be governed by a committee consisting of Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Bud Krystol, Bruce Herschensohn, and Ben Stein (three blacks and three jews) rather than the Washington criminals who now govern us.

The critical point is that this natural ambiguity should be understood and celebrated, but it should not deter us in the slightest from our quest for self-determination. We are not now govererned by those six individuals, nor will we ever be.

We must press on.

In Yggdrasil's Lesson #6, I spoke of a functional definition of race. Races are always combatants, and the combatants know perfectly well which side they are on. That is the universal state of mankind the world over.

And if the Asian spouse of the "angry white male" in letter below sees herself as an "angry white male," then so be it! She is a better judge of that than you or me.

Unlike Raspail, I am not the slightest bit pessimistic about our collective fate. Major European expansions lasting about 200 years seem to run in approximate 600 year cycles, with the conquests by Rome beginning around 400 BC, the Germanic invasions beginning around 200 AD ending in the sack of Rome and repopulation of Southern Britain; the defeat of the African invaders in southern France by Charles the Great and the Viking invasions beginning in 800 AD; and, 600 years later, the final expulsion of Africans from Europe by Isabella of Castile and her harnessing of modern technology with the help of her famous captain, Cristobal Colon.

We have met challenges before, and we shall meet them again.

In the first century of the new millennium we are due for a new and more powerful European thrust. Raspail's ultimate message is that we must not be confused by complexity nor slowed by occasional ambiguity. Some of the "whitest" among us may not appear so at first glance! We are powerful and just enough to accept the few that rally to our banner.

My Wife's New Life As Angry White Male

In his efforts to resurrect the FDR coalition (as described by Paul A. Gigot, "FDR Manque: Clinton Rallies Old Order," Potomac Watch, May 5), President Clinton should be alarmed that I, married for seven years to a wonderful Asian-American woman, now find the mother of our child to have become an angry white male.

Contrary to its prior tiltings at the fulminations of white men, the White House now sees the results of the 1994 elections as attributable as much to "ambivalent women," who are to be courted by presidential rehearsals of abortion-related themes. But I do not see ambivalence in my wife. A hard-working investment adviser, she is frankly alarmed by Democratic policies, such as efforts to reduce the flexibility of the American work force with ill-considered laws raising the minimum wage and restricting employer rights to replace striking workers, refusals to reduce counterproductive farm subsidies and, most of all, affirmative action and other racially divisive structures. The new White House approach represents a highly imperfect understanding of the principles driving the 1994 elections: voters who depend on the functioning of markets and entrepreneurial competition-and not on government policies calculated to benefit special interests at the cost of reducing our overall wealth - are turning away from the Democrats' neo- Depression policies. In short, the category of "angry white male" is determined much more by economic orientation than by emotional state, race or gender, and must necessarily include ever larger numbers of women of all races as they and their husbands compete on the basis of personal abilities.

It is for this reason that the new "message and strategy that excites the base of women" (in Celinda Lake's curious phrase) does not seem to excite my wife's base at all. She appears determined to remain an angry white male, and vote Republican.
